With such an incredible landscape, Bohol is an island of many must-see natural wonders. Among these wonders are spectacular waterfalls hidden amidst the island’s lush forests. From highly popular waterfalls to lesser-known cascades waiting to be discovered, here are some waterfalls on the island that are worth seeing on your next visit to beautiful Bohol.
Can-Umantad Falls
Can-umantad Falls in Candijay is considered by many as the most impressive waterfall in Bohol. With a drop of 45 meters, Camugao is already a sight to behold from afar. But take a closer look and you’ll discover that it’s actually a three-tiered waterfall, making it all the more beautiful.
Tontonan Falls
Situated in Loboc, Tontonan Falls is more than a must-see natural attraction. It actually generates the NPC Hydroelectric Plant which is located just a few meters away from the Loboc River. Through Tontonan Falls, the plant is able to supply electric power to six municipalities.
Camugao Falls
Tucked amidst the thick jungles of Balilihan is the beautiful Camugao Falls. This hidden gem is only accessible via a motorcycle and a 10- to-15-minute trek along the forest. Upon reaching the waterfall, visitors can enjoy the scenery, swim in the pool below, and bask in nature.
Busay Falls
Busay Falls is a compact cascade located in Loboc. This attraction is part of the popular Loboc river cruise where tourists can enjoy the nice scenery and enjoy a refreshing dip near the waterfall.
Kinahugan Falls
Kinahugan Falls is situated in Jagna, on a hill at Karap-agan. It features three beautiful waterfalls cascading down a 50-foot cliff. The strong pressure of rushing waters has also hollowed out the ground below, resulting in a 15 feet deep natural pool where one can swim and relax.
Mag Aso Falls
Mag Aso Falls is located in the town of Antequera. Getting there involves a short trek along a verdant forest, with a nice view point along the way. The waterfall is 8 meters high with a natural pool below which makes it a great spot for both swimming and cliff jumping.
Ingkumhan Falls
Also known as Pahangog Falls, this pair of incredible cascades is a must-visit especially if you’re looking for lesser-known attractions. It takes a 10-minute hike along a rocky road to get there, but the gorgeous view and tranquil area of the waterfall make the trip worth it.
Kilab Kilab Falls
Located in San Isidro, Kilab Kilab is one of the more challenging falls to get to. It remains unspoiled and has completely serene surroundings. There’s a cave to the right of the falls where adventurers can climb, then dive five meters down into the water.
Pangas Falls
Not as tall as the more popular waterfalls of Bohol, Pangas Falls is a rather quaint area where tourists can marvel at three little charming cascades while swimming in the natural pool or lounging on one of the cottages nearby.
Pahangog Waterfalls (Dimiao Twin Falls)
A short downhill trek through a lush green forest in Brgy. Guingoyuran, Dimiao brings adventurous souls to Pahangog Falls, also known as the Dimiao Twin Falls. Surrounded by tropical trees, the twin cascade stands about 30 meters tall and features a refreshing pool in its basin. The area around the falls is surrounded by cottages and bamboo footbridges.
Kawasan Falls
Not to be confused with Kawasan Falls in Cebu, this waterfall in Balilihan is one of the tallest cascades that can be found on the island. Its natural pool is also ideal for refreshing dips while enjoying the gorgeous scenery and tranquil ambiance of the area.
